Mobile work around for showing lookup fields

I encounter a problem on mobile as follows:

I use a dynamic form rule that fills in a related field. On desktop, as soon as that field is populated, all the lookup fields are populated.

The problem is, on mobile when it fills in the related field, it is not technically 'selected' until you go to the related field, click on it, and click 'Done'. I also find that some selections further in the form trigger it (oddly, if i select something in a mc dropdown, it suddenly recognizes that it is populated, but simply typing text in a field doesnt trigger it). Has anyone encountered this and come up with a work around?
