The low tech solution is to include your multi select field as a Dynamic Filter. That way you can see each type in its own.
Would that solve your need?

I think I have done what you suggested but it doesnt seem to have affected anything. Here are some images if it helps. I'm looking to have the X axis be just one of the options from the multi select.

Are you running this as a standalone report or do you have it embedded on a dashboard page? In order to access dynamic filters that needs to be run as a standalone report.
