I have a field on child form i would like to snap shot from a parent form, but only when the child record is created when a specific (drop down) field is set to a condition.
is that possible?

You have your snapshot field.
Your have your live lookup field.
Then just make a formula field which be exposed to users as to which of the two fields to use based on the selection.

I wasn't clear in the question.
I have a snap shot field in the child form called serial number. serial number comes form the parent form/ field of the same name.
i would like the snapshot to take place only when I select a child form / field called "service" and select remove/replace.

Qrew LegendThe snapshot will fire for all choices. There is not a way to have it snapshot only some of he time. That is why I was suggesting a work-a-round as a solution.
