Thanks, Mark. You're correct -- each code in the Codes table is unique and the relationship was backwards. I have deleted the relationship, changed the key field in the Codes table to the Code field, and re-created the relationship so that one Code record is related to many Data Entry records.
Now, back to the data entry form. I do NOT want the user to select a code from a drop down list. There are over 14,000 codes so that would be impractical. I want the user to be able to manually enter the Code (which they will know), and I want an adjacent field in the Data Entry form to return the Description of whatever Code was manually entered in the previous field.
Does that help clarify what I'm trying to do?
