URL Field Validation

Question

Newbie here. Apologies in advance.I have set up a URL field.&nbsp; I had assumed that the field would automatically validate the entered value to ensure that it was a valid URL.&nbsp; But that is not the case.&nbsp; The only thing a URL field seems to do is turn the value into a link when viewed?How can I validate the value when the data is entered, either after the field loses focus or on submission, to ensure it is a valid URL?&nbsp; Submission could be entering the data in a grid or using a form. I am OK limiting the validation to when entering the data into a form.Thanks!------------------------------Tom Reynolds------------------------------

I had a client actually have a similar need.&nbsp; A solution we cam up with was to show a preview of the website&nbsp; and the dead previews mean that the link is invalid as you can see form the report below, the ones with the unhappy face were dead links.&nbsp; Contact me via my signature line if you need help setting this up.&nbsp; The preview Technique comes from Kirk Trachey's Magic buttons app.
